Running the Race

How’s your race this week? I have a cousin that runs marathons and iron man (woman) races. She inspires me to do better with my own health and to be more physical. Training for these races is tough. It involves hours of dedicated time to general fitness as well as specific training for the course to be run.

The Christian life is no different. Jesus laid out the course for us to run. He is our great Trainer and just like a trainer for an earthly race, requires us to spend time with him preparing for the course he has asked us to run.

Training involves studying the scriptures, prayer, meditation (yes, this is biblical if done in accordance with the scripture), fasting, breaking bread with other believers, and worship. As we approach this beautiful day, are you entering your training session with the Lord and other believers? Or are you still sitting on the sidelines hoping for the best?
